The little boy has been home all week. No school, no outings except for a quick supermarket run on Deepavali.

As usual, things started very innocently with a slightly higher than normal body temperature but by bedtime, his temp has gone up to 38.1 deg Celsius.
Brufen-ed him. This was Sunday night.
Woke up 2x to check on him & gave him a dose of paracetamol at 2.30am.
Thank goodness I was on birthday leave at home on Monday! Worryingly, his temp stayed in the 38 deg range throughout the day despite being on meds. I wasn't sure if the fever could have been even higher and perhaps had already been suppressed! He was still playful but Definitely not his usual self. I was worried enough to take him to the PD on Mon night.
PD also couldn't give a firm diagnosis beyond mentioning that many kids are down recently with a high fever that lasts 4-5 days!
So the process of meds + cranky kid + appetite loss + interrupted sleep (for mommy!) was repeated for the next few days.
And FINALLY, his temp remained normal for the whole of yesterday and throughout the night. *phew* Only grouse is that he has started to develop a cough. :(
I am exhausted from waking up every 2-3 hourly for the past 4 nights but I am not grumbling. I'm just very glad his fever did not go past 39 deg and that he is on the mend.
Here are some photos of him painting on Diwali holiday --

I want to complain about how cranky, difficult & antagonizing Preston has been lately though!!!!! He's still mostly sweet but he has started to talk back (顶嘴) recently. Very naughty and rude!!! It was so bad yesterday when he talked back to his daddy & Grandma that I caned him and sent him bawling to the naughty corner.
I spoke very sternly to him after his 3 minutes were up. I also warned him that the next time I catch him talking back to anyone, he would be given a big spoonful of chilli sauce!
Preston is turning 4 in less than 2 weeks' time. I need to strategize again and quickly devise a firm disciplinary plan for the rascal. The last thing i want is for others to comment that my son doesn't know how to behave himself.
Like what I've told Preston -- "I love you a lot but I will still scold/smack you when you are naughty."
